James G Louw has been involved in community work for 26 years, and has 31 years of hands-on business management experience emphasis.  James is a Social Entrepreneur, the Founder of Jireh Community Projects, a self-sustaining community based project which started out from his home in Mitchell’s Plain in 1989.  Since inception, Jireh has been at the forefront of serving the community of Mitchell’s Plain and surrounding areas through social upliftment initiatives, focussed on families and individuals alike.

Jireh Community Projects runs one of the largest Early Childhood Development Centres (ECD) in the Western Cape.  It is registered for 300 children with the Department of Social Development.  Scarlet is a programme focussing on giving support to young pregnant mothers, equipping them with parenting skills through knowledge building workshops and also offering free counselling and free pregnancy tests at clinics and hospitals.  The Sons of Fathers Programme focuses on coaching and mentoring of sons and fathers in the community, whilst assisting in aiding the process of building relationships between father and son.  Our People with Purpose programme is aimed at reaching young and old through life skills support and focuses on living a life of purpose. The program also focuses on progressive parenting and parent child relationships. Showcasing of arts and culture is also an integral part of the programs.

James has strong interpersonal skills; he is a good communicator and offers guidance wherever the opportunity presents itself.  He is strong in the areas of networking, advocacy, and is a proponent of economic prosperity for all. James is practical, flexible and numerate. He is a good public speaker, majoring in the areas of self-worth, creating your destiny and living with purpose. He is committed, determined, patient, and compassionate. His passion for his work among the disadvantaged, adding value to lives and making a difference is a credit to his character.  He lives to share hope with humanity.  James is a pioneer and achiever in his field and a willing and humble servant to the communities he serves.

Recent and past philanthropic efforts

  • James was responsible for supplying an incubator to the Save a Life Clinic in Mongu, Zambia.
  • Through Jireh Community Projects, several Educare Centres were helped by James with mattresses and blankets, tables and chairs.
  • James has also distributed dozens of wheel-chairs to the disabled.
  • James has assisted and supported various other organisations in cash and with expertise as follows: Drug Rehabilitation Centres, Schools and Welfare organisations.
  • James participated in a programme in Nyanga to translate English books into Xhosa.
     

Knowledge Sharing and Project Visits – Local and International

  • Hosted by The Salvation Army in Wimbledon, gleaning knowledge of their projects and workings.
  • Attended numerous HIV/AIDS Conferences.
  • Also performed and participated in numerous Project Evaluations and gave prior motivation for funding.
